Fashion Street Style

Some of you may remember Vicky from the Valentine’s Day post about stylish couples. She was with her boyfriend Erick walking around the streets of the Zhongxiao Dunhua area, in Taipei, when we met. They are both a nice couple, wearing a similar style.

Vicky is wearing a brown sweater with three-quarter length sleeves, a long printed skirt combining white, mustard yellow, navy blue and black pattern, and black boots. Her complements are a grey cloche hat, small earrings, a black leather watch, a black leather belt, and a pale pink handbag. As you can see, her outfit is casual and relaxed, perfect for an afternoon shopping in the city.

Stylish couples: a Valentine’s day special

Today is Valentine’s Day! A romantic party very popular in Taiwan. How do you usually celebrate it? Do you have romantic plans with your special one? In today’s spirit, I want to share with you a few stylish couples that I have spotted in Taipei.

It’s quite common to see some couples dressing similar clothes, or wearing matching T-shirts (with messages like “I’m his” and “I’m hers” pointing to the left or to the right). The couples I’m featuring here  today are wearing different clothes but somehow their styles are in tune.

The first stylish couple are Amber and Mace. They were at the Songshan Cultural Park when I met them. As you see, both are wearing sunglasses, shirts, skirt/trousers by the knee, and their socks are well visible. Also, both are carrying backpacks.

The second stylish couple are Vicky and Erick. They were at the Zhongxiao Dunhua area when I met them. As you can appreciate, they are both wearing grey hats, each one different but similar. Their sweaters both have three-quarter length sleeves, and they wear long skirt/jeans.

The third stylish couple are Crystal and Stephen. Although they are from Hong Kong, I met them when they were also at the Songshan Cultural Park during their visit to Taipei. As you can see, they are both wearing round tortoiseshell-rimmed glasses, white shirts, and skirt/trousers by the knee. Their bags also have similar styles.

What do you think of this trend? Do you also wear similar clothes or matching outfits when you are with your special one?

In Spain you can find many stylish couples, wearing similar clothes or styles. But I think I’ve never seen a couple wearing exactly the same clothes or matching T-shirts (with messages like “I like him” and “I like her” pointing to the left or to the right). What about in your country?

Sugoi Hunter

As they say in their website, Sugoi Hunter means “Great stuff hunter”. “Sugoi” is a Japanese word that is repeated constantly in any conversation and that would be the equivalent of “Great”, “Fantastic”, …

Sugoi Hunter is a small company from the north of Spain. Sara, its responsible, travels every year to Asia looking for and personally selecting small collections of special pieces from Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan… We had the pleasure to meet a few years ago in one of her trips to Taiwan and we have been friends ever since.

On my trip to Barcelona, I visited Sara at the Sugoi Hunter stall in the Palo Alto Market, where they are present in every edition. We had a great time talking about our common passion for Asia and I had the chance to observe in detail the wonderful and authentic kimonos and haoris that she brings from Japan, like the ones below.

They are made 100% with silk, and some of these pieces are 80 years old! True vintage treasures that can have a second life in nowadays outfits. Besides kimonos and haoris (kimono jackets), you can also find complements, cosmetics, and “mori girl” clothes. “Mori” in Japanese means “forest”. This type of clothes refers to a fairly new Japanese fashion/lifestyle trend, dedicated to living a cheerful, simple, natural life of a girl in the forest.

Andreina is 29 years old, she is from Venezuela but she lives in Barcelona (Spain) where she works as a psychologist. Besides her job, she is also a fashion blogger. You can follow her Instagram for more photos of her. We met at Palo Alto Market in Barcelona, where her style immediately caught my attention.

Andreina is wearing an ethnic-inspired robe over a black top, jeans with busts and extreme ripped design, and silver shoes from Stella McCartney. She is wearing plenty of complements: a floral headband, pink glasses, some necklaces and bracelets, several rings, a watch and a black Chanel handbag.

Palo Alto Market

Palo Alto Market is a street market in Barcelona, happening the first weekend of every month (except in August). It started two years ago, combining shopping with culture and leisure. It is located in an old industrial complex, now reconverted in an urban island.

Its inner “streets” are full of stalls selling different things: clothes and shoes (new, vintage, second hand,…), decorative objects, food, etc. And visitors stroll around, taking a look at each one of them.

Besides the food stalls, there is an area with food trucks that offer plenty of choices to eat and drink, from options as Spanish as “paella” to Japanese food. You can eat while you continue walking, or you can rest in one of the relaxing areas with seats and tables.

Besides the outdoor areas, the warehouses host very interesting contents as well: at the Design Gallery you can find the pieces of different artists with a wide variety of styles; at the Club Aperol there are music and DJ performances; and at the Boheme Gallery you can see more stalls offering their clothes, accessories, etc., like the one belonging to SugoiHunter. I had a great time talking with Sara, the responsible of SugoiHunter, about our common passion for Asia; their pieces are handpicked in Japan, Korea, etc. I hope they visit Taiwan soon! 🙂
